UK Online Safety Act Compliance
Information about our compliance with the UK Online Safety Act and age verification requirements.
Introduction
This document covers our compliance with the UK Online Safety Act ("OSA") and details how age assurance methodologies are used to ensure that children are not normally able to encounter adult content on Nastia when accessed from the UK.
Note: This information is for UK users only.
Types of Age Verification Methods
1. Credit Card with 3D Secure Authentication
Process:
- Select "Verify by credit card" as the verification method
- Enter your card details securely
- Complete 3D Secure authentication with your bank
- £0.00 authorization confirms you're 18+
- Access to adult content is granted upon successful verification
Why this works: Per Ofcom's guidance, UK credit cards are only issued to individuals 18 or older. 3D Secure authentication ensures the cardholder is genuinely authorizing the verification.
2. Digital ID (Coming Soon)
Provider: Google Wallet / Apple Wallet
Digital ID verification will be available once integration with wallet providers is complete. This will allow age verification through government-issued digital IDs stored in mobile wallets.
Privacy and Security
We follow a data-minimal approach to age assurance:
- We do not store your payment card details
- Age verification is performed by secure third-party payment processors
- We only store the verification outcome (verified/not verified) and timestamp
- No identity documents are collected or stored
- Verification data is encrypted and securely stored
Membership and Age Verification
If you purchase a Nastia membership from the UK, your age is automatically verified as part of the payment process, as credit/debit card ownership in the UK requires you to be 18 or older.
Contesting Verification Status
If you believe your age verification status has been determined incorrectly, or if you're experiencing issues with the verification process, please contact our support team through the Help Center.
Legal Basis
This age verification system is implemented in accordance with:
- UK Online Safety Act 2023
- Ofcom's guidance on highly effective age assurance (July 2025)
- UK data protection laws (UK GDPR)
